Where Innovation Met Necessity
StrongBó AgriTech was founded by Ivan Wahlrab and Micheál McInerney to tackle the growing need for innovation in the beef industry. Extensive farming operations, harsh climates, and large animals made it difficult for farmers to assess daily output. The solution came from combining state‑of‑the‑art technology with onsite farming practicality — bridging the gap between data and decision‑making.
The Breakthrough — Continuous Weighing Technology
In 2015, StrongBó designed its first prototype — a system that continuously weighs cattle, providing real‑time growth and performance data with minimal labour and stress. Before this, farmers relied on manual readings or visual estimates — methods that were inaccurate, time‑consuming, and risky.
During testing, StrongBó discovered that AI analysis could identify early signs of illness with astonishing accuracy. The system not only tracked performance but also flagged animals showing subtle behavioural or growth anomalies — a breakthrough in preventive livestock care.

By 2019, StrongBó launched its first system in Ireland, refining the technology through collaboration with the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation. In 2020, the company adapted its product for the North American market, where feedlots face vastly different conditions — yet the same problem persisted:

Engineering for Extremes
Built to endure the world’s toughest conditions
Operating in CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) meant facing extreme temperatures, remote communications, and the physical impact of 800 kg animals. StrongBó engineered the Auto Weigher to withstand extreme heat, and heavy use — a rugged design built for reliability. The next step is a big one!
In early 2021, we proudly announced our partnership with Dr. Marty Metzger in ON, Canada. Marty had been developing similar technologies for the Ontario Beef Industry. Partnering with Marty has positioned us perfectly to help farmers reduce costs and provide a significant focus on animal welfare.
Scaling Up Through Gallagher Animal Management
In 2022, StrongBó secured a distribution partnership with Gallagher Animal Management. This collaboration allowed us to combine our agility and intensity of focus with Gallagher’s global scale, experience, and market reach. Together, we enhanced the Auto Weigher to ensure it could perform reliably in any cattle market in the world.
In 2023, we expanded our team to prepare for our 2024 launch. With our passionate and highly skilled team, StrongBó is committed to moving the needle on beef‑industry technology — backed by Gallagher’s global support.
Today, the Auto Weigher stands as a core component of Gallagher’s next generation of animal performance monitoring technologies. Made by StrongBó, distributed by Gallagher, and now available globally, it represents the future of intelligent livestock management.
