Frequently asked questions
The Auto Weigher is a mobile weigh scale, it is placed with your cattle 24/7 giving you up-to-the-day live weight and growth rate information without additional labour or stress.
Automated hassle free weighing.
Weigh more frequently without the extra trips through the chute. Less manual labour for you, less stress for your animals.
Impactful insights for improved performance.
Easily identify low performers with the help of easy-to-understand graphs. Make proactive management decisions sooner, saving you time and money.
Animal data at your fingertips.
Partial weight data is captured and then converted to full body weight. This data is then sent securely to the Cloud. Easily access animal data on your mobile or desktop.
Farm and cattle-tested.
Proven farm-tough and aligns with animal behaviour. The machine is heavy and stable so it remains operational even among the largest of animals.
The Auto Weigher is designed to provide information to you that will save labour, allow you to make better informed decisions to generate additional revenue, catch problems earlier, identify management practices that increase growth. Sleep better!
In certain cases where users are prepared to ‘Mob Kill’ or ‘Mob Sell’ Auto weigher weights could be seen as a replacement for static weighing.Â
In all other cases we are aiming to provide an accurate predictor of what your animals will weigh when they get to the yards or processor.Â
We are aiming to performance monitor selected mobs/groups of stock with various In paddock ADGs.Â
Yes! There has been significant industry research supporting that there is a high correlation between partial weight and whole body weight of beef cattle. The Auto Weigher quickly calculates the full body weight before sending it to the cloud.
Typically we will get an accurate mob average in several days. (Within 5%)
The accuracy of individual weights varies more and is dependent on frequency of visits and time in the mob as the algorithms need more time to smooth the data out.
We will start presenting Group ADGs within 3 days, after 14 - 21 days, these will compare closely but never perfectly with Group ADGs between 2 yard weighs over the same timeframe.
No; it will weigh a portion of your mob. Not every animal will be attracted to the salt or molasses.

The proportion of the mob you will weigh is dependent on factors including but not limited to:
mob size
grazing area/pen size
positioning of the unit
the length of time the unit is with the mob.

As a guide, however, if allowed a week with a mob we have seen:
Any time you want liveweight information but do not want to run animals into the yards!
The Auto Weigher is most useful as a ‘spot weigh’ device giving you an accurate idea of how your cattle are doing now; without disturbing them or don't want/have the time or labour available to run them to the yards.
We have customers all over the world making better decisions, and more money based on more up to date data.
What licks do your cattle like? This will probably work best. The Auto Weigher is designed to work with a mineral block or molasses block. Attractants perform differently on different land/Feed. a little trial and error will let you know what works best for you.
Animals’ weights (a portion of your total herd number) will begin to show on the dashboard within several hours of the animals weighing themselves. In some situations, we have seen live weight data come through in under 48 hours.
There is a range of management factors that influence how many animals are weighed such as: the mob size and grazing area/pen size. Typically, you will have the mob average accurate as soon as you weigh 30+ animals*, similar to when you weigh cattle in the yard.
Mob ADG weights are based on a 7-day average and generally take 7+ days before appearing. While we are capturing and recording the individual animal weights as soon as they step on the platform, we need to wait around 7 days for the ADG data to pull through on the dashboard. The longer the machine is with a mob, the more accurate they become.
Yes. But it depends. At the moment we are using ‘boosted cell coverage’ for connectivity, which works for many customers. We are working on a satellite option that will be retrofittable into all Auto Weighers by swapping the electronics box. Please contact your local sales person to talk through the options here.
The Auto Weigher is powered using a 12V battery and the integrated solar panel ensures that the battery is always charged and operational, as long as the machine is exposed to sun.
If the machine is indoors, the battery can last between a couple weeks to a month depending on usage. Swapping the battery is easily done through disconnecting and reconnecting leads in the back cabinet.
